Ditra Flame_Modren_PinupWhen you think of Pinup, images of Betty Page and Marilyn Monroe come to mind, but today, Pinup has returned and is becoming more and more popular, but not in the same style that is your parents pinup. Modern day pinup is a blend of the old and the new. Combining playful backgrounds with an edgy looks that encompasses tattoo’s, bright red lipstick, and an attitude that screams I Am Woman!! At Ditra Flamé Studio  we want to help you embrace your inner Pinup and help you create a fun and exciting shoot that you and your loved ones will cherish forever.

There are similarities between modern and old. Hair styles pretty much remain the same and brunettes are still more popular, but today we are seeing blondes getting in on the fun, redheads are of course burning their own way into the pinup world, and of course those who refuse to go along with the flow have their own unique hair color that allows them to stand above the rest. Let your individualism shine with your style choice. Remember this is all about you and what you want to see. Gone are the flowery dresses and diminutive portrayals of women in the kitchen or doing laundry, replaced with polka dot booty shorts and fishnet stocking. The modern day pinup celebrates the strength and freedom that women have these days.

When planning your shoot, the outfit is only half of the scene you are trying to create. If you think about some of the classic Pinup photos, they are always posing with something. Coca-Cola bottle, beach umbrellas and toys, a classic boudoir setting, or working on a classic car. Just as important as the outfit, the scene will help set the mood and make the experience a lot of fun! When you meet with myself and the rest of my team (do you have anyone else with you during the initial consultation?), we will help you build the perfect scenario to go along with your outfit. Don’t be afraid to be bold and daring.

Photo Tip: Boudoir Session 2

After talking with us here at Ditra Flamé and setting up your photo shoot, start planning your outfits, but remember to have fun. Use your imagination. Be Daring! Be Bold!! Accessorize!!! One of the most important things to remember is to feel comfortable and confident in your choices. Buying a new outfit is preferred as older lingerie can fray and not look as good as something new. Besides, this is not only a treat for your loved one, but for you as well, so go splurge on that new outfit you’ve always dreamed of. For a lot of you, you’re trying something new and will feel uncomfortable in revealing clothing. Bring along a friend you know will give you honest feedback so you can find the perfect outfit for your shoot. Of course, if your lover has a favorite outfit of yours, by all means, let’s shoot in that! We want everyone happy here.  Victoria’s Secret and Frederick’s of Hollywood will have a great selection of outfits for our boudoir sessions.  And remember, the more the merrier. Bring several outfits with you for your shoot. Two to three outfits is generally a safe number to bring. We like to plan for the unexpected.

Just as important as the outfits, you want your hair and makeup to go along with your look. A sultry 80’s rocker in leather and lace will want a different look than a naughty but nice librarian. Hiring a professional hair and makeup artist will help you achieve your tantalizing look. If you do not have an artist in mind, we have a great staff of professional hair and makeup artists to help you with the look you want.  Together, we will create a look that you will love for your portraits. Prior to starting your session, we will discuss what your needs are and how you like to look.  Our artists know the basic look that our studio is looking for and then collaborate with the client.

Our professional staff will ease you through the course of your shoot from start to finish. While sitting in the makeup chair being pampered, remember to relax and enjoy this special treatment. For as much as you are doing this for someone, remember you are doing this for yourself first. There is nothing more enjoyable than immortalizing how beautiful and sexy you are. So enjoy! Have fun! The human body is a natural and beautiful thing in all shapes and sizes. We are fortunate to be living in a time where beauty is no longer defined by perfect symmetry and a chiseled jawline. Beauty comes in all forms and we at Ditra Flamé Photography can help make your daring and sexy ideas come to life all the while helping you feel completely at ease doing it.

Some people are more comfortable than others dressed in provocative clothing or nothing at all. If this is your first time, it’s ok to be nervous, everyone is. The first time Kate Upton stepped in front of the camera in a skimpy bathing suit, I bet she was nervous. So relax and keep reading. I have some tips that will help you prepare for your first Boudoir shoot.

Before coming to the studio here’s our first tip to share with you:

Have a solid plan in mind – Think about what you want to accomplish from your shoot. Is this for a special someone or just something fun you’ve always wanted to do? Maybe celebrating years of hard work and weight loss to achieve your goals. No matter the reason, having a good idea will ensure the process is a smooth one.
